  • Civil marriage ceremonies are the only recognized ones in Mexico, although religious ones can be held but they are not considered official.

  • For attending these ceremonies you must have a tourist card. For Mexican citizens, there are no requirements. Marriages are registered at the Oficina del registro civil (civil registration office) for a fee, which can range from $100 to $200. Every area in Mexico has an office for marriage purposes.

There are certain destinations in Mexico where you can witness several marriages. The following are places that are well known for them: Puerto Vallarta, San Miguel de Allende, Acapulco, Yucatan Peninsula and Punta Mita.
